Backyard bikepark project: Phase II begins

After the experience of clearing brush and building a pump track almost completely solo, (and by hand, at that) I knew that mechanized tools would be required to create a private bike park in the backyard that would live up to the vision I have.

The plan all along has been to bring heavy machinery in to do the heavy lifting. However, as I’m currently on a budget while seeking a new full time position as a web design & marketing (hiring in the Portland area? Email me!), the decision was made to hold off until my friend Jeff and his company’s excavator was available.

That day has finally come. (oh snap!)

Clearing this brush by hand (as well as the top layer of organic matter) would take me days by hand.

The pump track is going to get a lot bigger. And faster.

Remember this bowl? It now also doubles as the lip to a downhill jump line, build especially for Inga to hone her skills. Photo: JVH

You will have at least two line options if you choose to air out of the bowl. Photo: JVH

Big thanks to Jeff Lebo, my bro with the excavator & the operator. Couldn’t do it without ya. And Eddie Jones, for coming out and shoveling some dirt, and showing us how not to crash on the pump track. Ha!

Before we could put the table top fill in, we had to deal with some junk that has been buried under brush for about 10 years or so.
