The Sandy Ridge Trail is everyone’s favorite new piece of single track. Unfortunately, the never ending barrage of rain and the huge amount of use has had a substantial effect on the Hide and Seek Trail. The trail has been hit hard, and has taken a lot of damage. We’ve seen the effects ourselves- the most popular four mile section of trail in the NW rides a bit differently every time we’ve been out there.
To address the undesirable trail conditions and allow for installation of the bridge over Little Joe Creek, the Bureau of Land Management is instituting a temporary trail closure of Hide and Seek.
During this temporary closure, BLM will be performing priority maintenance including enhancing drainage and armoring various trail sections. Staying off of trail during this time will improve long-term trail conditions, and minimize the amount of future trail maintenance required.
Throughout this period, the long awaited bridge installation will also be taking place. Public safety concerns with bridge installation have led to the need to close certain sections of this trail while this work is performed. The Sandy Ridge Trails will be on a rotating schedule for the next 6 weeks. They are anticipating that all sections of Hide and Seek trail will open by July 20th.

June 3rd: Entire Hide and Seek Trail Closed to Public Use
June 18th: Lower Hide and Seek Trail (below Little Joe Creek crossing) Opens
Upper Hide and Seek Trail (above Little Joe Creek) Remains Closed
July 20th: All segments of Hide and Seek Trail Open for Public Use

From the sounds of it, the skills development area known as Road 14 will still be open, and has been in great running shape, although with all this rain all the trails have been hit hard.
