I tell ya this gets old real fast. Yes blm/zack did give me tools and yes he and adam did ride the trail's at marmot. Plus They reported to me about some small problems in drainage, that we were able to repair. As I see this whole problem is some stepped over zack and adam and made a big mess.
The main problem is big government telling us as riders what we can do in woods.
In talking to locals of this area this is what I hear. "To all the fat cats of salem get a life and stay out of are woods". Also this from some of the builders of the area "everytime you rip down a ladder, a jump, or a fun trail ten more will come".
What I'm trying to do now and everyday is cool a hot topic, but keep the fire going. We as riders need trails of every kind and not just what someone in salem or washington tells us.
I ride my bike becuase it gives me a freedom, and no body will take that away. I don't know about you but everytime I ride it's a race. I laugh at the saying "major undergound dh race"
If you look at places like postcanyon, bend, even Moab all the trails started as Illegal. The need for trails is a major problem and I for one don't want to wait any more! It's really true that the best trails are illegal.
This is a topic that is only going to get hotter.
Well off to ride becuase some trails can only be riden at night.

That would be called reporting 'hearsay' and I doubt Jason would do that. Inga, for you to accuse me of 'not reading' the article is the real slap in the face. No hostility here. I have offered to help. Did your post help? Nope- you were just speaking your mind and delaying the process your own way.

How is Jason not reporting the facts correctly when he is primarily writing about a conversation he had with the BLM? My take on this is that you did not read this article thoroughly and came to a snap judgment. At the end of the day we are all looking for the same thing and creating hostility towards one another only hurts and delays the process.

That is the first I have heard of that, and I have spoken in person with both Carey and Zach. If you have any information with sources, I would like to hear it.

How can they be illegal trails in 'essence' when tools were dropped off at the site by BLM and Zach? Jason, as a fellow trail advocate and bike industry friend you need to remove the colors from your over exaggerations and focus on the truths. Carey had permission, that is something you cannot dis-prove or deny. Reason why no charges will come forth- nuthing but a group ride and a few shuttles occurred that day.

If the BLM or NFS, has worries about usage, then they need to step up efforts. As users of the trails we want to ride anything available as the activity itself is healthy and growing huge. I love jumps and berms just like you.

What if I created a results page from some training runs and just kept posting them as 'highly attended' races- do you think I would get somebody out of an office to investigate it? Lo and behold they do arrive and find nothing- the internet joke will be on them. See my point?

i mean no disrespect to you. Like I wrote earlier. I feel you just didn't report the facts properly. Im grateful to live in a community like Hood River that embraces biking tenfold. Personally the Portland Metro area has too many loose nuts and its hard to tool them all.......its a daunting task your taking on and if I can assist you with reason and insight- i'd like to contribute. You got my email info.

Fair enough. I should have put quotes on that, as those were not my words. The bottom line, is that the high amounts of traffic brought attention to trails that were in essence, illegal. The word was that certain individuals at the BLM discussed pressing charges at one point. Fortunately that doesn't look like that will happen, and instead, the FR/DH community is going to be given the opportunity to build the kinds of trails we all want to ride.

A 'major underground DH race'? Hardly. Poor choice of words. One tech savy attendee, tracks some times with 2 cell phones and makes a psuedo results listing and posting them on Pinkbike is hardly a major underground DH race. Just speaking my mind. No disrespect to you or your new found efforts, I applaud you for stepping in and being an ambassador to the FR/DH scene........
