We spent the day down at the convention center, hanging out at the 2010 Portland Bike show. There was an interesting mix of peeps in the hall on the way in, as it was the last day of a Dental Convention as well.
Portland being Portland, AKA the famously bike friendly city, there was a strong emphasis on utility bikes, as well as city bikes. We also saw a good amount of new product that would be welcome additions to any happy hour bike ride.

There was also a section roped off where “Pimp’d Bikes” were displayed. There was some interesting stuff to be seen.
Wha? That is a big headlight!
Take this loc’d out Schwinn cruiser, gone all low-rider style. There were also a few interesting “bikes” and I use the term loosely, with some interesting tube forms. Of of them included an easy chair even. Unfortunately, they had some messy backgrounds, and I wasn’t able to get any pictures I liked. (perhaps I’ll try again tomorrow)
Freeride area from the NWTA and WTF
Of course, with the emphasis of this website being on freeriding and downhill culture, we spent most of our time checking out NWSOF’s dual stunt course, and snapping pics of riders sessioning a wood kicker that Andrew Taylor from Marin Bikes and NWSOF built on Friday. It was super dark in the convention center, so I had to pump up the ISO on my new camera. It was a great way to break in a new camera body though. I even got a few keepers that I am holding back for the time being. (gotta find a way to pay the bills somehow) On a side note, the photos I shot today wouldn’t have been half as good without my photo assistant, Ms. Beck, acting as my voice activated light stand. xoxo.

The Marin Bikes van was broken into late Friday night, and it appeared that nothing was missing. Until Andrew Taylor realized his dirt jump bike was missing, and had been taken. Fortunately, the Marin Bikes booth had a stock production bike included among the bikes they brought up for the show. AT grabbed it from the booth and proceed to shred anyway!

Nice photography work!
Wanted to let people know that the teeter-totter pictures which is all flagged off was a beautifully crafted piece of work, but there was an exclusion with event insurance that prevented it from being ridden. Sadly, it was disassembled after the show (parts to be donated for use for drainage crossings on singletrack at Stub Stewart State Park) and I never even had a chance to ride it.
