The Downhill riding season in the California Bay Area officially began a few weekends ago with the opening of our local DH mecca, Northstar at Tahoe. And while there is still a bit of snow on the mountain, it is officially game on, as the upper right side of the mountain is indeed open. That's right, Livewire, Northstar's own version of the famous A-Line trail in Whistler is up and running, and better than ever.

The crew at Northstar has been busy. Locals familiar with the trails will notice a number of new additions to their favorite trails. A few boost friendly kickers have been added to some of the lines on Livewire, and some new hip jumps have been added as well.

The bottom of the trail now has additional turns and berms.

Even the Lift trail back down to the lodge has been augmented with the addition of new features and stunts. The best part is that the trails extend all the way back down. Whether it is too the lodge, or the trail back to the lift line, the enjoyment stretches on and on.
