Weekend Road trip: Day One

My girl and I headed out of town this weekend for a micro vacation. We got an early start got out of the Bay Area fairly early. After 5 plus hours of driving we crossed the Oregon border around 1:30. After meeting up with some friends, for a car swap, I was heading up to the summit in a borrowed truck to meet up with my brother Izaak for a session in the snow.

Izaak teaches snow boarding part time at Mount Ashland. He's worked at the Mountain for over 5 seasons and knows the mountain well. He had just finished teaching a private lesson with a pair of snow groms, so our timing was spot-on. After he set me up with one of his spare boards and a pass, we strapped in and cut some turns.

I recently acquired a new pack for toting my camera gear around so I fired off a few shots before ditching it to ride. The light was disappearing fast, so I didn't get to shoot as much as I would have liked. We got a few shots good enough to blow up on the fridge though.

My weak sauce foot wore out fast, but I made a few good turns and had a good time hanging with my bro.

Tomorrow we're doing the Rouge Valley skatepark tour! It's going to be sweet!
