Pacifica

No Shuttle today.
This access road is closed to vehicles. But that's why we have small rings
on our bikes. It was a beautiful day; I can hardly believe I'm riding
in the sun in December.

It's a healthy climb
to the top, but it was a good chance to survey the terrain we would be
riding back down on. I was stoked to finally do some technical riding.
I had replaced my broken saddle right before leaving to meet up with Blake
and Avi, and remembered to swap my clipless pedals and stem out to DH
friendlier flats and Azonic shorty. Next time, I'm also installing my
heavier dh-specific wheels as well.

We sessioned this
section of "the Crack" for a bit. As usual, the photos don't
represent the actual level of difficulty. In the photo on the right, if
you look closely, you can see that Scott's Jr. T is just about bottomed
out. All the other riders we ran into we riding full blown DH rigs. That
said, Blake and I had a lot more fun sessioning the hits and hip on the
jump trail section further down on our Hecklers.

This is the run out
after landing at the bottom of that section. Blake and Scott each took
a digger in around the same spot. But not me! I crashed hard once this
week, I'm good till next time.

The view from the top part of that same section. Doesn't look that bad
in the photos. I'd love to hit this section full bore on my DH bike sometime.

Here's a shot of me, courtesy of Blake VK, taking it easy on my Mavic
317s.
Another
shot of Scott by Blake.
