2005 New Year Resolve: Can it last?

posted 1/7/05

I've got some serious new year resolutions going this year. First, I have the usual: hit the gym, ride bikes, try the running thing again. It's going to happen this year. Towards that end, I've signed up for weight training at the local community college. Plus, I finally have a road bike- and I actually enjoy riding it. After the rain is done, I'm leaving the car at home.

Second, the art career is taking priority. The work needs to get out there. It has been my main focus for some time now, but all my bikes are functional now, and any available cash is going straight to my computer set up. I'm going crazy too. I added an external hard drive this year, and I'm going to add a laptop, large flat screen monster, and drawing tablet. I'm going to be so set up, I'll be capable of producing anything. I'm already committing to learning all the short cuts in the main apps I use, so I'll look pro. I have several programs I need to get dialed in.

Between painting my ass off, getting my computer skills dialed, marketing and misc classes, and of course wrenching bikes at the Pedaler, I'm going to be a busy monkey. All that, and this is the year I'm getting certain tricks I've always wanted to do into play. Even if I don't get them dialed, I'm going to try:

    throwing a full bar-spin on a good-sized double.
    360's on said dub.
    supermans.

    no-footed can-cans.

and what the hell, I may as try a suicide no-hander since I'll have bar spins down.

I just hope I can keep the motivation level high for all this stuff. And stay out of the hospital. That is always a risk, though, which is why we'll need a really nice step up jump with a butter landing to minimize injury.
