Highlights from the Archive: 12/31/04 Waking up this morning we checked the forecast to find rain. Tomorrow's forecast: rain. I see a patch of blue sky, but it is apparently not going to last. I'm dying to ride; I see a short street session in the cards for today. Last day of the year, I have to at least get out and do a few manuals. Mike from Southern Oregon sent me an email: What's up Jason? Mike Bronze here, hope you had good holidays. Anyways , I was checking out your site, awesome work by the way. Looks like you're having some fun out there. I am here. Lots of action, trails being cut and stunts being built. Fun stuff! Whole new section for the bottom of wagner. Stunts being built on upper. I'll send you pics of the new stuff. I sent some pics if you would like to use. Not very clear though. Hope to see on the trails. Talk to ya. It sounds good to me, Mike. I'm looking forward to riding it. It looks like a lot of fun.
12/30/04 - It's my brother Izaak's birthday today. Happy Birthday bro!
12/27/04 Happy Hollidays. 12/21/04 I received the hospital bill for the laceration in my knee today. I'm out $371.00 because I made a mistake without protective gear. When I think of all the things I could have spent 371 bucks on, (new suspension fork for my bike, computer stuff, X-mas gifts, fixed my car, gotten the dental work I need) I get kind of bummed. (So I'm trying not to think about it) 12/20/04
Santa Cruz: The best riding in the extended Bay Area? Man am I are sore today. Yesterday was a great day of riding in what seemed like summer in Santa Cruz, California. It's hard to believe it is December. It's it supposed to be cold and rainy? Check out some of the pictures (and yes, the above photo is shamelessly of yours truly, airing this hip the SC locals dug just days before. Photo by BVK.) After riding the trails for a while, we went down to check out this wallride that was featured in a video. The locals dug a tranny and made a sick hip jump. I must have aired it 50 times. It appears we're finding the limits of my pocket-sized digital camera. It doesn 't handle a large range of light levels very well. I had to do a significant amount of dodging and burning in Photoshop to get a decent amount of contrast.) I'm not the only one that is hurting though. Blake crashed in the soft dirt of the landing of another hip jump that was being dug above the one in the pic. Fortunetly, he didn't break anything.
12/15/04 For those that questioned the logic of naming a website that is quite obviously about riding two wheels (and sometimes one) "I hate bikes," your questions are answered. I received an email from my friend Blake the other day: check out this story I read today > >Downhill Banned @Big Bear!!!!! http://velonews.com/race/mtn/articles/7280.0.html This is bad news for the future of the sport. Lee, of leelikesbikes.com wrote a touching story attempting to explain the other side of the story. I shared the news with my co-workers at the Pedaler; their reaction was one of strong emotion and anger towards the individual behind the lawsuit. However, getting angry about the issue isn't going to change the reality of it. The bottom line is that the limited amount of legal places to ride are dwindling, and complaining about the problem is not going to provide a solution. A similar lawsuit faces the city of San Jose regarding a local sanctioned dirt jumping spot. The jumps are closed off for now, with a chain link fence surrounding them. What are we as riders to do? I finally received my replacement u-locks from Kryptonite. It took some time, but it is great they took care of me, and other customers. They replaced my two high end locks with two brand new redesigned locks. That is what I call customer service. I also added a few more pictures to the Ashland gallery of pictures. Most of the trails there are still rideable, but it's getting cold up there. I have been spending my time off this week working on art projects, so I haven't had much time to ride. I did venture out on the 20" though and explored the area around Laney community college in Oakland though, working on manuals and bunny-hop 180s. My arms and shoulders have been sore for the last several days.
12/9/04 What is it with all the crappy drivers here? I'm starting to get a serious collection of "car on fire" photos. I snapped this one on the way back from our Pacifica ride. I narrowly avoid collisions with stupid people almost everytime I get behind the wheel here. No wonder insurance rates are through the roof here. 12/8/04 Product

12/07/04 I finished posting the rest of our pictures from our Pacifica ride Sunday. I'm still stoked on the good time it was. 12/06/04 I finally got to ride Pacifica Sunday. It was sweet. Check it out.

Blake Von Knopka. Theo Dilworth & I have been pooling our collective knowledge together and making some cool shite. You've seen my video, now check out a preview to his new bike video, "East Bay Grease." I'm still helping him with dialing his web site in- check it out- it's got a lot of sweet eye candy.
I crashed again.
At least I didn't damage my new helmet.(a Giro Zen- my new favorite)
12/1/04 The weather in Oregon over the Thanksgiving weekend was depressing normal for Oregon. Cold, and damp. We had a nice holiday playing with my baby nephew. We did squeeze a brief riding session in while we were supposedly on a cranberry run though. Izaak stuck a peg on his Grossman and had some fun doing feeble grinds on various ledges throughout Medford. I did get a chance to ride again briefly at the Ashland skate park. I was happily surprised to find that I warmed to the transitions of the park on my mt. bike fairly quickly.
