Spots> Backyards> Backyard fun
The pump track phenomenon has yet to spread to these backyards, but I
imagine its just a matter of time. Any back yard you can ride bikes and
bbq in sounds good to me.
Personally, I'm just jealous of the fact they have backyards. One of
the biggest issues with living in the bay area is the cost of living.
Not only is do we have to deal with a higer cost of living, but the insanely
inflated real estate market means that home ownership for most of us living
a dirt bag lifestyle will never be realized here. There's always the lotto,
but I haven't been doing so well with that yet. (although I just keep
trying)
On a recent trip up north visiting friends in Oregon, I did a tour of
riding spots; a lot of these spots were located right in the back yard.
How cool is that?
My first stop of the backyard tours was my friend Evan's house. Technically
his is a rental, but he still has enough room to stick a half pipe back
there. It was a bit tight for the 26" wheels, but its still fun.

having your own half pipe is sweet!
The next spot we present is actually my mom's backyard.
We used to have a mini half pipe in the shed back there, but it has been
gone for years now. However, my brother spent a week up prepping for his
wedding and somehow managed to find the time to do what we've been talking
about for years: build some jumps.

The dirt is pretty bad back there though, which is kind of a bummer.
-Not enough clay in the soil to hold it together. Fortunately, there happens
to be a network of trails a 15minute bike ride away though known as Norm's
Trails built by our family friend Norm. We ended up sessioning them as
well, but unfortunately I didn't have my party camera. If you're into
riding skinnies for miles, you'd have been in heaven.
Another stop on the backyard tour was Sweatpea's place. The boys were
still working on getting the yard going when I was in town. Apparently
a lot more has been finished, including several quarter pipes and a curved
wall ride with a lip off the end for tricks.

come on over, and don't forget to pick up a half rack of PBR.

Rocker Dave explaining his vision

Here are a few shots from our night-time session, as the
boys kept shoveling until it was dark.
