Pacifica

At the bottom of the crack the posse regrouped. We were so stoked that
we hiked up and sessioned the crack a second time. With DH bikes you can
carry quite a bit of speed down the rocky and sketchy trail, but line
choice is critical.
The next section we rode is known as the mile. After a traverse and bit
of a climb, you enter the high speed section. Crisscrossed with ruts,
rocks and the occasional jib-able hit, this section of trail is guaranteed
to bring your heart rate up.

Eric (pictured above) was bombing down this section at mach
speeds when he passed my camera. Unfortunately he clipped a pedal (or
something) and went down.

The poor guy wasn't looking so good when I rolled up to
document the carnage.

Here is a text book reason on why not to run carbon bars
on dh or freeride bikes. The Easton DH rated bar had two rides on it.
Eric can't actually remember what happened, but that bar is done. In fact,
at the time of this writing, it is a week later, and the poor guy still
can't walk right. At this point, he was done for the day, and took his
time rolling back down the access fire road we took up.

Tara rips. And happens to be a girl.
We regrouped again at the bottom of the freeway. We had
a good size group and the trail conditions with the recent rain were great,
and the stoke level was high. The last section of trail on the way down
is known as Boy Scout. Unlike the other sections, BoyS count is under
tree cover and lacks the rocks and treacherous ruts. There are some fun
fast berm sections as well and a few kickers to keep it interesting. Good
stuff. Tara, E-rock and myself stopped to session this popular step down
before flying down the trail. Both Tara and E were kicking ass- both of
them have been riding for a short time, and did I mention Tara happens
to be a girl? A girl that has hit 80ft+ doubles on a dirt bike! This stuff
is kid's stuff to her! She was launching a jump that I've seen more than
a few carcass on.
After we regrouped at the bottom, we headed back up for
a second run down Boy Scout. Good times.

the author doing his best to look good for the camera- thanks to Tara
for snapping this, and taking my bossiness with the camera to heart!

Tara rocked the step down. At the rate this girl is progressing, she's
going to be pro..
