The CHDH- sneak
peek!
posted 3.29.06
I'd like to give a shout out to the guys at RideSFO for putting on a
great event. I held off from entering this one to focus more on shooting,
and I really wish I had taken a few runs down the course. Blake and the
guys did a great job on the course this year, and not only was the vibe
extremely positive, but it looked like a lot of fun.
A lot of people got broke off on the course, but they were all pinning
it. It was an extremely fast course which made the crashes painful to
watch, and the consequences of going down high. In Saturday's practice
alone, there were several broken wrists, a collarbone, and wrecked ankle.
I'm still working on editing my report, but in the mean time, check out
some photos at afinishedproduct.

Sandhill Practice session
posted 3.17.06
Last Saturday we got a crew together to ride at Sandhill, but we got
out there much to late for the racing. The weather was incredible though,
and I got a ton of good practice in for tomorrow's Dual Slalom. <pictures>
On a side note, I put my SPD pedals on my hardtail for the first time,
and cranked around the neighbor hood. I have to say, it blew my mind.
The amount of power I was putting into the ground was at least 15-20%
more than I get out of flats.
Hella Greasy Video Premier Sunday
Blake's in Berkeley. See you there.
SandHill Dual Slalom

Sandhill held it's first Dual Slalom of the 2006 season last Saturday.
It was also my first attempt at racing the Dual in almost 6 years. <more>

their trails. Sick!

I hate bikes isn't just pictures and words, there's art too.

Spring. Its so awesome when the dirt begins to dry and the digging begins.
(I'm still amazed that we're riding dirt jumps in February!) The days
are a bit longer, and for a lot of us, it means we can ride after work
again. In fact, we had so much fun after work Thursday that we had a repeat
session on Friday. If you live in the North Bay, another spot is being
created. Just don't dig on someone else's lines. <more>
The next day my brother and I woke up early for a long day of fun riding.
The plan was to start with a quick warm up session at the Medford bmx
track before heading to the Talent skatepark. After that we were going
to check out the local dirt jumps at Central Point. <more>
My girl and I headed out of town this weekend for a micro vacation. Our
plan was to head up to Southern Oregon and spend time with our friends
and family; I was looking forward to riding bikes with my brother, and
visiting with my nephew. We got an early start and made it across the
Oregon border around 1:30. After meeting up with some friends, I was heading
up to the summit to meet my brother Izaak for a session in the snow. <more>
This weekend's mission didn't exactly go as planned, as several of the
guys couldn't make up their minds on whether they were riding or not.
In the end, it came down to Chipper "Stop & Go," and myself.
At the last minute we had a new addition to the days crew.<more>
Unless the snow on the pass keeps me down, I'm heading up to Southern
Oregon this weekend; it should be a fun time. I'm looking forward to riding
in my old stomping grounds on my new hardtail.

After a week off, this Saturday the destination is Sandhill Ranch. The
Dual Slalom course was closed last week as they worked on it, while the
boys at RideSFO dug on their course for the CHDH. Where were we? I personally
spent the day on the couch nursing a bit of a hang over after catching
a sick punk show headlined by the Lucky Stiffs. At least I didn't yack
my guts out like someone else I know..
I did work on my bikes though, and I spent a good deal of time mucking
with my Specialized P.3. It turns out Saint cranks, the 2006 P series
bikes and E. thirtheen guides don't play well together. After trying several
different spacing variations and modifying my Saint Cranks with a hacksaw
I gave up. Turns out E. thirteen doesn't recommend Saints with that set
up. I could have told them that.
Anyway, the plan is to posse up and caravan over to Livermore this Saturday.
The first race is Feb. 25- it's time to get your game on, Sea Otter's
coming up!

This Saturday the boys down at RideSFO are going to start digging on
the CHDH course. I know they would love help if anyone wants to go out
there and check it out. Head to RideSFO.com or click the CHDH banner for
more info on the digging and the race.
We headed out on the road again Saturday on a quest to find ridable dirt
jumps. The forecast again called for rain, but we headed out anyway. The
main question: was the Pleasanton park ridable?

Street & Park Mission
Location: Vallejo & Fairfield Area
posted 1.22.06
Our mission: ride street, several parks, and a full pipe.
The plan was to get an early start, although the rain drops sprinkling
the windshield of the car drew some concern. Although the forecast called
for a mostly cloudy day, this didn't look good. Fortunately, the further
north we went, the dryer it became. <words and

It doesn't look like we'll be making it up to the Gathering this year.
I'm bummed about that, but hopefully Bay Area weather stays dry this weekend,
as the crew has plans to check out some Vallejo parks and ride some street.
The word is that Pacifica and Carmont are in good condition to dig and
ride. I might be out there Sunday shooting. And maybe even riding a little.
On a side note, I created this illustration
of our favorite headset as kind of a homage, created in Adobe Illustrator.
The Ramp Rats Jam went down the other night; if you didn't go, you missed
a good time. The Red Bull was flowing, and the energy was high. Enjoy
the pictures.
My buddy Blake and his boys at RideSFO putting on a downhill race in
March 25026 at Carnegie SVRA, in Livermore, California. Taking up where
Team Wrong Way left off, the Event formerly known as the Groovy Gravity
Games promises to be a good time. The guys are working hard to provide
a fun course, and are planning to offer a pro purse, as well as a "HUGE"
raffle after the race. They're still looking for volunteers and sponsors,
so if you can help out, they would be stoked to have you.
AND DON'T FORGET, THE RAMP
RATS JAM IS TOMORROW NIGHT!
My brother just got a new bike made by our friend Fred at Wolfhound Cycles
in Ashland, Oregon. It's looking pretty tight- check it out!
the Gimp gets a new bike. And the foot's healed enough to actually pedal
it around.

Indoor Session at Ramp Rats
Right now here in the bay area, there are some major flooding issues.
The rain has been dumping, and that means one thing. Riding at the skatepark.
I took my new bike up to join in on an evening session Friday night after
work. My ankle isn't feeling up to par yet, so I pulled out the camera
and began to experiment with shooting in the challenging lighting of the
park. I'm not that happy with the results, but I think the pictures came
out better than last time. See for your self>>
