We headed out on the road again Saturday on a quest to find ridable dirt
jumps. The forecast again called for rain, but we headed out anyway. The
main question: was the Pleasanton park ridable?

Street & Park Mission
Location: Vallejo & Fairfield Area

Our mission: ride street, several parks, and a full pipe.
The plan was to get an early start, although the rain drops sprinkling
the windshield of the car drew some concern. Although the forecast called
for a mostly cloudy day, this didn't look good. Fortunately, the further
north we went, the dryer it became. <words and

It doesn't look like we'll be making it up to the Gathering this year.
I'm bummed about that, but hopefully Bay Area weather stays dry this weekend,
as the crew has plans to check out some Vallejo parks and ride some street.
The word is that Pacifica and Carmont are in good condition to dig and
ride. I might be out there Sunday shooting. And maybe even riding a little.
On a side note, I created this illustration
of our favorite headset as kind of a homage, created in Adobe Illustrator.
The Ramp Rats Jam went down the other night; if you didn't go, you missed
a good time. The Red Bull was flowing, and the energy was high. Enjoy
the pictures.
My buddy Blake and his boys at RideSFO putting on a downhill race in
March 25026 at Carnegie SVRA, in Livermore, California. Taking up where
Team Wrong Way left off, the Event formerly known as the Groovy Gravity
Games promises to be a good time. The guys are working hard to provide
a fun course, and are planning to offer a pro purse, as well as a "HUGE"
raffle after the race. They're still looking for volunteers and sponsors,
so if you can help out, they would be stoked to have you.
AND DON'T FORGET, THE RAMP
RATS JAM IS TOMORROW NIGHT!
My brother just got a new bike made by our friend Fred at Wolfhound Cycles
in Ashland, Oregon. It's looking pretty tight- check it out!
the Gimp gets a new bike. And the foot's healed enough to actually pedal
it around.

Indoor Session at Ramp Rats
Right now here in the bay area, there are some major flooding issues.
The rain has been dumping, and that means one thing. Riding at the skatepark.
I took my new bike up to join in on an evening session Friday night after
work. My ankle isn't feeling up to par yet, so I pulled out the camera
and began to experiment with shooting in the challenging lighting of the
park. I'm not that happy with the results, but I think the pictures came
out better than last time. See for your self>>

Happy Birthday shout outs to my buddy Rocker Dave, and my brother Izaak.
Izaak joins the ranks of the dirty 30, and Dave is already in that club.
Still rockin. He was just telling me about a bike park comp in Washington:
the Gathering, presented by gohuckyourself.com
It's going down on January 27th and 28th. It sounds pretty big; check
out this venue.
The park looks soo sick. I'm seriously thinking about trying to figure
out how I can get myself up there..
Some good news regarding my riding injury: I can stand up on top of a
pedal now. Which means I'm now working on getting myself a new slalom/jumping
bike setup. I'm so ready to start riding again.

Your own Bike Company: Just add water
Have you ever wanted to
start your own bike company? Don't know a thing about engineering or even
building bikes? All you need is some credit, a distribution plan, and
a link to this web site
to get you started. I'm pretty sure I've seen this bike
before. It looks an awful lot like this one
from Iron Horse, doesn't it? Have fun surfing that one. Rumor has it there is a bike
comp planned for January at Nor-Cal's Ramp Rats indoor skatepark in Petaluma.
However, since their site isn't up right now, this is difficult to verify.
The word on the street is that it might get big, with some big/ up and
coming names in the mountain bike free ride scene planning to be present.
I just have to figure out exactly what gear I need for my camera to get
the results I'm envisioning. The park is pretty dark, even shooting at
F2 with at high ISO. Last time I shot there I got some so-so shots by
bouncing the in camera flash on my Canon 20D off the wall. My plan is
to buy at least one new flash, and maybe a radio transmitter. As soon
as I figure out how they work.
Last week I was updating some Cannondale clothing images on the web site
at work, and I decided to take a look at Cedric Gracia's signature model,
only to find that it had been renamed the Judge.
I thought this was interesting, especially when a Google search came up
with almost nothing. However there were some answers on Gracia's site,
in the forums
section. Interesting. You heard it here first.

I can finally wear shoes. It's about damn time. That's right,
I wore shoes outside the house for the first time in over 2 months. Big
news for this kid. Things are starting to look up around here.. on top
of that, the sale of my Heckler is pending funds being cleared via Pay
Pal. This means I finally will be able to spring for that "L"
series Canon lens I've been dreaming about. Which in turn means, better
results in my photography endeavors, and more good photos to post here.
I still have a ways to go in rehabbing my foot though. Posted

THE CAST IS NOW OFF! It's finally off! I'm now running a soft
cast, which I'm going to be in for the next two weeks. The cool thing
is that I have been officially cleared to ride bikes! Road bikes at least.
And long travel dual suspension comfort bikes! I have a lot of rehab to
do now though, as my ankle, foot, and leg looks all skinny and messed
up.
I've slacked on getting this post up, but here are some shots I took
at the last Mountain Cross racing out at Sand Hill Ranch. My bro and
his family came down to hang out with us in the city for turkey day, and
brought his new bike videos. >> more
