Pacifica 4/30/05

Pacifica is located a ways south of San Francisco. If you head down Highway 1 from the city, you run right into it. It's a pretty coastal town. This is really the only look at the town I've had. The view is really nice from the top though. If you're a fan of the "Super Heroes" videos, a lot of the footage is from this area and Santa Cruz.

This is the view from the top. It's a harsh ride up on a 40lb. dh bike. John did the whole thing standing up on my Giant DH ATX. I'm happy to say that my Demo 8 has plenty of seat post extension. I had my seat at the maximum height, and it was just short of my XC saddle height. That combined with my dual ring set up made the climb do-able.

Last time I rode down the crack, it was on my Heckler with XC wheels and Tires. It was fun on a full-blown dh ride. Apparently the trail has been sanitized by some unskilled trail "do gooder." I don't know what people like this are thinking. Last time I was here, this section was a lot more technical. On the dh bike it was pretty easy. It was still fun, but the fear factor has been taken out of the picture. Take a look at how it looked before for comparison.

John snapped this shot of me off this step-down. I thought I would be tricky and kick my feet off, but I missed my pedals on the way down. Owwee-zowie. I landed with my ass on the rear tire. Not a happy event.

While I waited for my balls to come back out of hiding, John sessioned this fun little drop.

This is my favorite line up here. You start by railing these two berms at speed. Coming out of the berms are two small kickers that send you down the trail into a third. Right after you buzz around a corner you come up on this hip jump. Here's a shot of me getting the feel of my new dh rig off the hip.

It's all down hill from here. Some shots of a fun techie line.
